astudio chosen to exhibit at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition
After months of preparation and hard work, astudio's model addressing the housing crisis has been picked to be exhibited at this year's Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
The sculpture/totem is an abstract piece created from modular units. The piece is constructed from 6 types of unit, stacking in different orientations. From these types, a number of permutations build studio, 1 bed, 2 bed, 3 bed apartments. The sculpture represents the enormity of the issue we are facing through its scale as well as an abstracted reading of a solution. The act of making, through 3d print, echo’s new techniques employed in the prefabrication of the modular system.
